Elemental studio has won the competition held by the Gujarat government to design the new business centre ‘Gems and Jewellery park’ at Bhavnagar in Gujarat. A city survey was done to understand the scope of the project. Based on the survey a brief was made and a site was selected considering the major axis and surroundings.

The site was selected in Bhavnagar to flourish the diamond business there. The idea was to connect surat and Bhavnagar through a ferry ride for easy commuting of the workers. Elemental Studio won this competition, but due to some unforeseen reasons, it is still an unbuilt project. The park is designed to rejuvenate diamond business in the city of Bhavnagar.

The plan of the Business park embraces the core characteristics of Diamond, it’s faceted and it’s form. With all five sides of the site being taken advantage of, the building sits horizontally spread on the wide spectrum of the town.

The programme of the building includes hotels, malls, retails shops, auditorium spaces. The Elemental Studio proposes a diamond-like geometry that provides the spaces to open up towards centre having island-like volumes all around.

The volumes come together in a symmetrical arrangement where the pathway of the general circulation gently connects various programmes to the centre of the form.

There are ‘Salons’ as theatres of conversation and exchange, Which are anchored to daylight. Courtyard and adjacent internal garden blur the boundaries between the indoor

and outdoor spaces.

Elemental studio’s proposal adopts an occupant centric design approach that aims to deliver the highest possible outcomes in marketing, exchange and business with minimal environmental impact and lean building design through multifunctionality, flexibility, adaptability, smart building and learning.
